Deficits come physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. We all have them. We will always have them. The objective of life is to strengthen, reduce, eliminate or accept our deficits.
Living the very best of life is not at all about living perfectly. Some of us will need daily reminding of that. Still, if we accept this fact—that progress is a far better goal than perfection is—we will still be left with a problem.
Dealing with our deficits is always about dealing with each of the good, the bad and the ugly.
Strengthening Some Deficiencies
Some deficits are simply matters screaming out for a confidence to take on life and flush the deficiency out with positive power. This is the compulsion of courage to go where previously we hadn’t thought or dared.
Eliminating or Reducing Other Deficits
Self-control is the word in some areas so far as our deficits are concerned.
There are very many bad habits that are in our sights. Here we need to ask the question, “Why do I engage in this thing, and what am I afraid of facing if I stop doing it?”
Our bad habits that reveal our deficits do produce some reward for us for some reason; if we wish to quell the bad habit we best deal with our basic deficit—and those rewards—first.
Accepting the Rest
When all is said and done the very last pillar named “Acceptance” stands and nothing denies it. This insurmountable pillar stands as testimony for a demolition project leaving this one and only pillar standing; all else is gone for strengthening, reduction or elimination. This is the perfectly imperfect demolition of deficits.
Acceptance is the godly constraint known to a world that cannot resolve everything.
And even though this is ugliness to us—that we can’t control everything—we’re most resplendently blessed to accept that acceptance is often the only way.
